Andy Vernon

Dr Andrew A Vernon joined the Therapeutics Research Program in the Division of AIDS, NIAID, as Chief of the TB Clinical Research Branch, in December 2022.  His early work experience at CDC included field epidemiology and African child survival.  He worked 1995-2020 in CDC’s Division of TB Elimination; his Branch developed and managed the TB Trials Consortium (TBTC).  Major TBTC studies during this time included USPHS Study 22 (once weekly rifapentine for TB), TBTC S26 (3HP for LTBI) and TBTC S31/A5349 (4 month regimen for TB).  Dr Vernon is an infectious disease physician and a Master’s level epidemiologist.  He works mostly from Atlanta, with regular visits to the NIAID campus in Rockville MD.
