Christian Lienhardt
Christian Lienhardt, is an Infectious & Tropical Diseases specialist and Clinical Epidemiologist, graduated from the Universities of Strasbourg (France), and London (UK). After several years of clinical practice in France, and humanitarian medical relief and health development work in the Middle-East and in Africa, he carried out a number of multicentre epidemiological, operational and clinical research studies on the prevention, treatment and control of tuberculosis in high TB burden countries with the UK Medical Research Council and the French Institute for Research on Sustainable Development (IRD). He headed the Clinical Trial Division at the International Union Against Tuberculosis and Lung Diseases (The Union) in Paris, France, and worked at the World Health Organisation Global TB Programme as Team Leader, Research for TB Elimination (Geneva, Switzerland). He is currently Emeritus Research Director at the French Institute for Research on Sustainable Development (IRD) (Montpellier, France) and Honorary Professor at the Department of Infectious Disease Epidemiology, London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine, London, UK. He is a member of the French High Council on Public Health.
